Google Contacts: Synchronize contacts with Zapier Integration

If Ring Central had Zapier.com integration it would solve the problem of RingCentral-Google Contacts synchronization and about a dozen others. Zapier already links my Google account, Salesforce account, Quickbooks account, Zoho Creator Account, Survey Monkey account, Adobe Echosign account, and a few others. That lets all of these web applications share info with one another. If Ring Central had Zapier integration, it would let me sync RC with all these accounts as well. In fact, I've replaced all web apps but Ring Central for alternatives that integrate with Zapier; the clock is ticking on RC for us.

I'd settle for google contacts syncing, but Zapier integration would make Ring Central way more efficient and powerful!

Hey Nicholas,

We have just launched the Beta RingCentral Zapier Integration. Although I don't see a trigger or an action for Contacts or Address Book in RingCentral, but that doesn't mean it is impossible to achieve. You could create an application, use some custom code in Zapier to make a GET/POST request to our API and facilitate this use-case.

There currently isn't a public API resource to support CRUD operations with your RingCentral Account's Address Book, but if you're building an integration with RingCentral using the Developer Platform, we can enable the Address Book feature of the Extension API resource for your application. If you're interested in having this feature turned on for your application either create a new developer support case in Developer Portal, or send an email to devSupport@ringcentral.com.

Thanks Benjamin. I'm playing around with the Beta Ring Central "Zap" in Zapier right now. So far I've managed to get all of my recorded calls automatically saved to my group Gdrive file which is great! That saves me a ton of downloading and saving to individual client files.

The next thing I was going to try was to create contacts in Ring Central directly, but it sounds like that may not work based on what you're saying. It's too bad because it's a huge pain point for us. Not being able to synch contacts with each other or with our company google contacts makes CRM a circus of redundant data entry and wasted hourly administrative pay.

I'm not technical at all. Zapier is at the edge of my "system integrations" abilities :). We don't have the budget to hire custom development either. Like a lot of tiny companies, we string together the best web apps we can, and plug the gaps with heaps of manual tasks.

Having said all that I'm still really excited about the Zapier integration. I'll be spending the rest of the afternoon figuring out how to automate the stuff my staff is currently wasting time on manually!

I'm happy you're able to automate as much as possible, and while we may not offer everything in Zapier...we do have a solid set of actions and triggers available.

As customers share more needs they have of the beta Zapier integration, we will consider these based on demand to improve the RingCentral Beta Zapier integration...Rome wasn't built in a day. :)

I wish y'all would just start with Google Contacts integration! We do not need all the bells and whistles - Just Google Apps Contacts!

I just saw that zoho crm is now integrated with ring central. Given that Zapier is integrated well zoho crm and Google contacts, and ring central is linked with zoho crm, it may be possible to use zoho crm to extract and consolidate Ring Central contacts, and use zapier to synch it with Google contacts.

It's a bit of a Rube Goldberg solution, but Zoho CRM is $12.00/month. I'd pay that in a heartbeat to avoid 3-4hrs per month of manual contact synching for my staff.

Anybody ever try this?

I've not heard of anyone doing this, and if it works for you, you could help several people who are in the same situation as you by sharing (plus I would really love to know if your solution works).

If you try it and hit any snags, add a reply to this thread and I can setup a call and screenshare to see if we can work through the problem together.

Thanks for the really kind offer Benjamin!

I just found out that it won't work for me though. You have to have a Ring Central Office Premium or Ring Central Office Enterprise account. I'm just a lowly Ring Central ProPlus user :(

Back to the drawing board. There's bound to be a way.

Hey Nicholas, I just had a conversation with our Platform's leadership about your needs and here's what we determined...

We currently do not offer the Address Book (Contact) as part of our Zapier integration (so you'd be blocked by that), and to gain permission to use the beta Address Book, you would need to have a dedicated developer to build a custom integration to solve your use-case.

But that doesn't mean you're left out in the cold on all of this...

1. We'll consider adding Address Book (Contact) support to Zapier.
2. If you can find a developer, we'll can work with enrolling you in the dev program, but you + your developer would need to do development.

Is that something you'd be interested in pursuing?

It's tempting. Even so, in my limited experience custom development and integration work always winds up costing more than you think possible.

I think my best bet will be to wait and see if Address Book gets linked to Zapier.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Hi Benjamin,

We need API sync for our Address book. Can you please give us access to the API. Currently we are using zendesk and it is fully sync, but we are trying to switch over to RingCentral. But only thing that is missing is this contact sync with the team.

Please get back to me and let's implement this for our case. We have dedicated developer and our system is very robust and agile, so we can adapt things very quickly.

Best Regards
Basit

Could you please send an email to devSupport@ringcentral.com and provide the following information to be considered for access to the Address Book API:

1. Link to this post
2. Your detailed Use Case outline and requirements
3. Data that outlines your use case throughput
4. A request that their case be escalated to Tier 2 (and let them know that Benjamin Dean supports this, and they can refer to this post to see it)

I am unable to simply "grant" access to these beta API resources, and I am going on vacation for the next 10 days and that's why I am having you send the email to devSupport@ringcentral.com to make sure you are being served.

Thanks,
Benjamin

Thank you Benjamin. I have emailed them.  Please if you can push our case to Tier 2 team. That would make things easy and fast. Thank you again for the help, I hope we can get to use the API calls, so we can continue using RingCentral for our overall customer service center.

Best Regards,
Basit
